In 2003, Ruckman Engineering, PLC, completed the hotel’s original structural design with 8-inch hollow-core pre-stressed concrete plank floors and masonry block support walls. In 2024, we were invited back onsite to design structural modifications to facilitate a top-to-bottom renovation of the building.

Our office completed the structural and foundation design for this hotel. The building features a conference room and restaurant on the first floor. Our office also performed the structural inspections for the project, including the subgrade, footings, masonry block reinforcing, and structural steel.
STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS & RENOVATIONS
SHENANDOAH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Woodstock, VA
Originally constructed in the 1960s as an extended care facility, this building was being renovated as the new pediatric care facility. Significant modifications were required to the existing roof framing system for a new 13,000-pound HVAC unit that was 40 feet long. The new unit also required additional columns and footings.
